Below is a list of Long Island wineries with their own public tasting rooms and no appointments required. As I visit each winery, I'll add summary feedback and an overall rating. To get familiar with my ratings methodology, please refer to the legend at the bottom.
NORTH FORK WINERIES (35):
NORTH FORK WINERIES (35):
The North Fork's first winery. Don't let the opulent-sounding name fool you, these wines stay true to their varietal's character, and never taste like they're trying too hard. If you enjoy lively whites, or lighter style reds that are drinkable now, this is your place.
Recommended: Chardonette, Estate Sauvignon Blanc, Estate Merlot
Clovis Point
Corey Creek Vineyards
Croteaux Vineyards
Diliberto Winery
Duck Walk North
Harbes Family Farm & Vineyard
Jamesport Vineyards
Well-made wines, pleasant tasting room, and a knowledgeable staff. However, other producers in the region with similar quality offer more affordable tasting options and lower-priced wines for purchase.
Recommended: Cabernet Franc, Riesling
Jason's Vineyard
Laurel Lake Vineyards
Lenz Winery
Lieb Family Cellars
Macari Vineyards & Winery
Martha Clara Vineyards
McCall Wines
The Old Field Vineyard
One Woman Vineyards
Osprey's Dominion Vineyards
Palmer Vineyards
Paumanok Vineyards
Peconic Bay Winery
Pellegrini Vineyards
Pindar Vineyards
The North Fork's largest winery. Generally, the wines have some good length, but none were particularly distinctive. While I don't plan to go there frequently, Pindar is one of the quintessential North Fork institutions you should visit at least once, to check it off your Long Island wine “bucket list”.
Recommended: Peacock Chardonnay
Pugliese Vineyards
Raphael
Roanoke Vineyards
Sherwood House Vineyards
Shinn Estate Vineyards
Sparkling Pointe
Vineyard 48
Waters Crest Winery
THE TASTING ROOM* (5):
Bouké Wines
Bridge (Brooklyn Oenology)
Christiano Family Vineyards
Comtesse Thérèse
Onabay Vineyards
HAMPTONS WINERIES (3):
Channing Daughters
Duck Walk Vineyards
Wölffer Estate
OTHER LONG ISLAND WINERIES** (2):
Long Island Meadery
Loughlin Vineyards
